Hi,

I've just put my new motor in. It is running but it wont idle below 3000revs.

I've wound the idle screws right back and the choke is off. What else can I do?

ok well I am no expert but what I believe is that if you have taken that cable off and it is reving too high maybe something to do with the tune of the su's

you see because your using two one might be out of tune or both
dunno if that makes sense but i had one carby and it wasn't tuned properly
and sat at the level you speak of unsure if that helps you :?

I would say you have a air leak. Check to make sure the inlet manifold is mounted properly, lined up with the inlet ports and isnt bottomed out on the extractors.

Probably sucking air from underneath the manifold,,, not being aligned up correctly with the ports & leaving a small gap maybe?

grab a mirror & have a look under the manifold where it meets the cyl head & see if you can see a thin gap

also check all gaskets between the carb & manifold & between whatever pspacer plates you have etc, make sure they`re all there & not torn or loose etc

Thanks fellas

All fixed. I went out and had a look and noticed the inlet manifold had dropped on one side. Don't know how i didn't notice that.

Matt and 850man were on the money, just a little too late.

Thanks anyway. Now to adjust the clutch, put a new oil presure line in and away we go.

Also with twins, check that the throttle spindles are synchronised. You may have one closed all the way, and one cracked open.
