Hi all,

Im looking at buying a moke. I would just like to know what price i should be paying for this particular moke. I think is reasonably priced. Here are the specs of the moke!!

1981 galv califorian moke
1275 engine rebuild 3 years ago
front discs
only rust is a small hole in battery box

needs respray and clutch replaced

comes with a hard top (no doors)

I was thinking about $6000 do you think this is a sensible amount

Cheers

6 gorillas is not far off the mark IMO.

I'm not a fan of hardtops, I'd rather see it come with a decent canopy so I would lop a grand off the price for starters. A respray is no disincentive & a job you can do yourself with spraycans if your'e on a tight budget & not into concours.

Make sure you check the floor thoroughly for rust. Even if its a galvy, water can get inside the channels on the sides of the panniers and play havoc. check underneath.

Some pics would give us all a better idea........................

Okay,

I can do the respray and change the clutch not too hard at all.

The guy is in QLD and im in SA, so it makes it rather hard to look at it. I think it would be worth a flight over there to have a proper look.

I got some pictures but are not good quality.

Cheers

regards

Craig

The 81 Cali is the pick of the bunch IMO when it comes to Mokes, and there probably slim pickings with that particular model ie beggars can't be choosers.

The downside with your plan is the cost of your ticket & the cost of shipping the car.

Hope it works out for you.

Where abouts is it located? Why not send an Ausminier to have a look for you?

Hi guys,

Its in Cairns, so its a while anyway from Brisbane. I have chatted to the owner and he seems to know what he is talking about. For the sake of a 1275 engine and disc brakes i thing its worth while. He sent some pictures of the floors and engine numbers. The engine number is correct and the floor has no rust.

Thanks guys for your help
