Hope you keep the oil topped right up, or have a central oil pickup. Otherwise... you can flog the big end bearings out easy doing roundabouts.
I got 2 1275 motors recently with this problem, one was an 1100S motor the other A+. One had .007" ovality on the big end journals, but the mains were fine...
The other wasn't quite as bad.

Is there room in an a series gearbox for baffles?

if anyone knows the dandy-hastings road in Vic with all the roundabouts on it, well it's usually a chore in the x-trail... but in the mini they actually make the road interesting!!!! Slow to 40kph... say what?

Glad you're enjoying your min NG

There are baffles (centre web) but the damned standard oil pickup is in the RH front corner.
Rodchange box is even worse, as the whole LH side is empty (no gear linkages etc in there).
Always keep the oil level at full (or even keep a bit above).

Are you saying that the center oil pick up isn't necessary?

Go LHD = roundabout problem solved :D

@cush:
It is neccesary. The baffle (or centre web) is there, but since the pickup pipe is still in the corner it's effect is reduced (oil get's pushed away regardless) :)

A bit off topic, but, wouldn't a windage plate biassed to the right hand front help the standard pickup not to starve?

Oh and, roundabouts are fun, on a cruise once we had 4 minis circling one holding up traffic

There already is a plate above the pickup, it holds the rock strainer.
Doesn't help when the oilz all exits stage left.

The main benefit of windage trays (on race motors) is it keeps the busted engine's whirly bits out of the gearbox... :P
The jury is still out on whether there are really HP gains.

Thanks Dr - that makes some sense of why the 1100S engine in Ms Plum seems to loose oil pressure in a right hand bend, doesn't even need to be a tight one, just a sweeper, drops perhaps 30lb then as soon as I straighten up it's back to normal

I'm glad you like my mini in your sig pic

I love roundabouts too, i just have to take care with them, it's how the bearings in my motor got starved of oil and died.

I am more worried about CV's than then anything else with
corners and roundabouts..
