Post subject:  Year Manufactured ?
From what ive seen somewhere on this site you can tell the year of manufacture, or there abouts from the date on the wiper motor.
I have a round nose Delux which i was told from the previous owner that it was a 1967.
I recently cleaned and repainted the wiper motor and found no date on it except for on the top plate after the 12 V it is stamped 10 65.
Is this the date ?

Also look on the boot lock, although it may not be the original one..

wiper motors regularly get stuffed and when u get a new one it is usually reco'd, cause they work on a trade in -reco for your old one, so if its been changed, its likely not to be the year,,,rather the year of the car it came off in the first place.

Not always, it's worth a look at the wiper and the boot lock.
. I got 3 Minis- a 64, a 70, a 78. All still have original wiper motors. :wink:

wouldn't 1065 suggest october 1965 if thats about right?
And can't u tell by engine number?

Yes it would be, but all the engine number tells you is the model and mark 1/2.

I was just thinking but you're right, my numbers don't match anyway so it makes no ods to me... hmmm

my pano has a plate telling me when it was made..
i can't remember exactly, think it's january 66' it's on the firewall above the brake and clutch master cylinders.

I noticed that while the mini matic wiper motor has the date code (0468) a two speed clubman motor i have does not. did they stop stamping the dates on the wiper motor at a particular time?

Mine all those dates stamped on it too and yes they all match.
