My rear seat central support has a series of holes, the top and bottom ones are original, I think all minis have these and perhaps were used during assembly of the body.

However someone (i think) has added a large hole and two smaller ones above and below (see pic) I cannot imagine what the purpose of these would be.

Any ideas?

Yep, battery switch does make sense. Thanks, I didn't think of that.

Also am I correct in that the other two holes, the ones at the top and the bottom, are present on all minis. The top one is slightly larger than the bottom one I think.

Maybe your lower hole is hidden by the carpet.

Hey same year and colour as mine.:) I was thinking holes were for a jig used during assembly and with the different size holes it could only go on the jig the one (correct ) way. Carpet usually seems to cover the lower hole.
