I have a bet each way- Bosch W6DC on the road, NGK BP7ES at the track..
BP6ES are a bit too hot for mine on the road- these Bosch are between a BP6ES and 7ES....

I've used both Bosch and NGK. NGK code is BP6ES i think. |

i use akg bp6es in summer and bp5es in winter, hoter spark the lower the number. i just find that any excessive fuel load, ie traffic and or choke causes the plugs to foul in winter but not in summer so i use hoter ones in winter and back to std for summer. Tried bosch equivalants and found they fouled all the time. |

i'm running double ground, triple ground is much more expensive over here than double. it's claimed that they last much longer, but i never really tried. and i'm using 16mm hex plugs. and if you ask why the hassle: the same plug is used in my daily Rover 214

Ive tried Iridiums in some of my cars and IME they're not worth the extra cost. May last longer but no performance gains. |

I had iridiums in the S/H AUII Falcon when bought. Fuel economy was terrible, then I found the plug gaps had worn out to 2.0mm. I closed them up to 1.1mm and economy came good. 3 months later I fitted std NGK BPR6EYs, they worked fine, same as the iridiums. Still in it.... IMO fancy plugs can give more life, but that's about it. [edit] typo |

i used to use the Champion "X",,, they have 4 earth posts  worked a treat for my 1500 donk & lasted & lasted & lasted

Tried them in my 78 Mini (carburettor) ran rich and fowled plugs! Run them in my daily driver (injected) runs really well. Not exactly conclusive but my personal experience has been Iridiums plugs don't like carburettors! |

I don't have the part numbers, but purely for a bit of fun I drove the Bosch parts manual and cross referenced a set of platinums to suit my cars. Only because they were 25 bucks per set at the time. Bosch WR7DP I lucked in, and seem to have made a good choice. I was getting a lot of fouling issues, which can be sorted out with carb adjustments and correct needling, but a one for one change out has now seen 3 years of problem free sparking. More to do with good material and correct heat range. Nothing to do with the Platinum. I agree however that you only go for these expensive plugs for longevity, which leads to economy. Nothing to do with performance. Any literature which says otherwise is telling porkys. |
