Ive got a set of performance locking wheel nuts atm, but ive lost the key to unlock them. Has anyone got any hints to get them off?
Ive got 3 of them off, have been hammering sockets onto them and sacrificing the socket to get them off so far, but ive run out of sockets and the last one (drivers front wheel) wont get unstuck.

Or failing that the code on the wheel nuts ive got is H662-3/8-24-R H/T.

that's the way to do it.

or hammering on the other wheel nut, over it some fit & then turn that.

And maybe put new wheel studs on after the brute force

How about Tack welding a nut on to the lock nut?

That is usually the best way.

Also, try tightening the other nuts to take the pressure off the lock nut.

if you don't mind losing a wheel stud.....

undo all nuts you can, hopefully 3, leaving the one locknut on the wheel....

grab a hold of the wheel at 3 and 9 o'clock and start wriggling the wheel until it strips the stud and the nut falls off...



disclaimer: i've never tried this, it's something my old man told me, he sold alloy wheels for a time (there's not much he didn't sell at some time or another) apparently it's the way that thieves get your nice rims, even when you've got a lock nut on, the reason why you're meant to run 2 lock nuts....
or maybe that's just a salesman's way of selling more locknuts!?

can anyone remember that epic fail thread where the guy used a sawzall on his mag?......

All I can remember of the thread was what was left of the mag.
Not a good idea to use a Saber saw on an alloy mag if you still want to use it again.

I think that cramped an ingenious way of getting it undone. All i could think of was pictures of the rim hacked to pieces.
And my dad got it undone, he got the grinder and ground a hex head onto the nut
