Post subject: | 998 Cooper disc brakes- now SOLD |
Anybody interested in a set? I have the whole setup, except the swivel hubs. (you can buy those from Minispares UK for £32 each (+ freight) 2 New 7" rotors, new 998 Cooper pads, 998 calipers with new caliper seals fitted, good chromed pistons (no rust), good unworn drive flanges, original dust shields. These disc brakes will fit inside any Mini (non-S) wheels without widening the track as S brakes do. Would be great in an 850 or 998 Deluxe. Unlike the twin leading shoe drums, they self-adjust so you are not under it every month with a spanner. They stop pretty well, 998 pads are bigger than the old 997 ones were. Reports of drums being better than 998 Cooper discs are rot, IMO. I've used both. I'm after $350 for the lot. This is about the cost of the 2 rotors and seal kits alone. Colour: I can do the calipers in yellow, black or red, your call. ![]() <edit> I've put this post in chat to hopefully get some meaningful discussion... but I'll move it to `for sale' later. |

You cannot convert 7" into 7.5s, unless you keep the disc swivel hub and swap everything else, including CVs. I had 7" discs on my ClubbyMatic with metal pads and a booster, it stopped very well. ![]() With 10" wheels. But I wouldn't run them in 13s... |

These ones are 998 Cooper. The 997 Cooper used the same 7"x 1/4" rotors but the pads were tiny `postage stamps' and held in place by a spring plate. The 997 caliper can be milled out inside to fit 998 pads, which stop better and last longer. These are located by 2 long split pins, a la Cooper S. <edit> I've already had 3 PMs for these brakes, so looks like they are going/gone already. ![]() |
