Post subject: | Boot: keyless entry and hingeless |
Has anybody got a blueprint or plan for making a keyless entry for a mini boot? Probably mechanical via a pull cable rather than electrical would be preferred but I'm open to ideas. I want to get rid of the handle like this: https://www.plminishop.com/product-SB002.html I also want to put internal hinges thereby losing the hinges as well. This is a bit tricky coz the hinges have to hinge up and over. Any ideas? |

For the hinges, there's some discussion here: http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=52847&highlight=boot+hinge |

you can buy keyless entry kits with a ir keyring, click the keychain and the doors pop an inch and you can then open them. If you go with a pull chain then how are you planning on locking the boot. |

Earlier post is excellent. Just what I was thinking of doing. However, it will need springs to keep the bottom of the boot closed or they will just open at the bottom when the boot is closed. Off to drink some engineering initiative fluid (beer) so I can have a think about it.... ![]() Looking for lock ideas still... |

Have a look at Trickys El Gato project. He fitted a remote release mechanism from a Civic http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=351298&highlight=functioning#351298. An electric boot cable release mechanism was used, but the mounting idea woud be the same for a manual cable. In combination with struts installed (http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=693180), it would be a clean solution and a very smooth looking Mini bum. |
