Has anyone bothered putting central locking/keyless entry on their mini?

Reading the post about the handleless boot got me thinking...

I've seen kits at JB hi-fi for around $40, doesn't sound too expensive, and the locks look small enough to fit in the door.

Anyone attempted it?

(EDIT: ^^^ what he said!)

Use the Force..er... I mean the search button.

"central AND locking" in Mini Chat has half a dozen threads. Sorry, I can't post a useable link from the results page :(

From memory, Leyland = ok, roundie = no joy. Run that search and you'll have all the answers :D

Clubman: Fairly easy for somone who knows what they're doing.
Rover: straight forward, but fiddly.
Roundies: requires modifications to locks, and some custom parts and clever thinking, but still certainly do-able.

Yes :D

Done it recently to a clubbie,,, came up great, very happy with the result..

ONE SUGGESTION THOUGH,, when looking at keyless kits, remember to find kits that have a rotating code,, a lot don't have one,, and what it means is that joe blow can go back to the store and buy a "spare remote for the kit" and unlock your car,, (or anyone else who's used the same kit as you)...

NG, the way to look at is is not "has it been done?", but rather "can it be done?", or "can I do something?"

Most of the time the answer is Yes. :D

Central locking in your 850 doors? Who cares if it's been done before or not?
Grab a pen and paper and make it happen! :D
