My experience in expansion tanks could be written on a very small small thing and as such i have a question:

When filling your cooling system how do you do it and to what levels? I have the correct springless cap for Radiator and spring loaded for tank.

Thanks

Half to three quarter fill the expansion tank and fill the radiator.
The radiator should alway remain full and the tank should stay roughly where it was filled to.

I never have to add anything to my 1100, it just stays in the same spot year in year out. :D

Once the cooling system is charged, you should only (if ever) need to top up the expansion tank.
