Post subject:  Changing leads and spark plugs
OK, so I changed the spark plugs and leads on a 998cc Mini, put everything back on, now it's backfiring and wont idle.

I have obviously put the leads on the wrong way, how do I know which is the right way??????

We gave away our Mini books, which is helpful. I'm stuck.

Help please :lol:

Start with the plug lead on the dizzy at about 1 or 2 O'Clock. That's #1.
Work anti-clockwise from there -- the next is #3, then #4, then #2.

If you have put the leads back as detailed above and it still backfires then the distributor drive is 180 degrees out (this happened to me).

Haven't got around to taking the drive out and correcting yet so just changed how the leads run (starting from #4 on distributor to plug #1 instead of #1 on distributor to plug #1).

I LOVE you ausmini guys, after a long absence from the forum, you guys still come through to help me out. The silly girl who cant fit leads back on her car :oops:

I followed diagram and now she's running like a dream. You guys seriously rock. I even rang Lube Mobile and was going to get them out, thank god I came to Ausmini.
