It's straight forward, but seals are expensive and there's a knack to swapping them. New ones never seem to fit right either, I've put new seals in before and with the window shut it didn't touch the glass. I don't bother changing them anymore. |

the car is a 1965 (real mini) and the seals NEED to be replaced, so leaving them is not an option |

Second hand quarter window would be a good way to do it, otherwise buy the new seals and do it yourself. Maybe the seals now are better than a few I've tried. ![]() |

![]() I believe there are good ones and bad ones. As far as I remember (it was a few years ago when I was told about it), A grade parts have rubber kits that have been put together with the good rubbers, which aren't all from the same manufacturer/source. |

ok, so i have new rubbers the problem is i'm unsure how to fit them, also the open/close handle on the drivers side one has snapped leaving a really sharp edge so could do with replacing that too is there a way to get the quaterlight out withou too much drama |

You'll need to get the quarter window assy out of the door first (I think you've already worked that bit out). To do that, remove the door card, then 'disconnect' the main window (it's not necessary to completely remove it), remove the inner and outer main window seals (carefully!!) and then you'll be able to get the quarter window out. To get the main window out, wind it down about half way, so you can just get to the 3 screws that hold the centre pivot in to place. Remove these screws and then you should be able to slide the roller out of the window. Once it's out, here's a link;- http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10443 I use plenty of rubber grease. I don't think you'll be able to do it without grease. I couldn't first time I tried. |
