Post subject: | Banjo bolts and copper washers |
Just wondering if anyone can tell me if there's anything special I need to do when assembling the banjo bolt and copper washer assembly on the front right brake pipe / hose union? Do I assemble it all dry (clean obviously), or is there any sealants needed and is the washer soft enough to mold to shape from 'normal' tightening torque or do I need to make it pretty tight? Thanks. ![]() |

It's a soft copper washer, no sealant needed. Just needs to be firm. |

Don.t quote me . but I am thinking there are two different size copper washers, the larger internel diamiter washer goes at the top ,over the shank of the bolt and the smaller one goes under the junction were it goes into the brake hose Mark |

The washers are different sizes as mentioned. They will only fit in one place. Thanks guys. ![]() |

Copper washers work harden after they have been tightened a couple of times. To soften them again heat up to cherry red with a flame, gas camp stove will do, and quench in cold water. Good as new!!! Dave |
