Yes the Mini is parked, not driving it with wobble. Just double checking that is generally the wheels being out of alignment that causes the steering wheel to shake at speed ? Happens when I get above about 90km/h when accelerating gradually, or earlier if I accelerate with rather quickly..... Forget the ball joints, wheel nuts, tie rods & bearings as they are all fine. I haven't had the wheels aligned after adjusting the rack and subframe. |

Alignment can cause two other effects. It'll either pull in one direction (usually worse under braking) or if the wheels are counteracting each other your tyres will be scrubbed - usually on insides or outsides - depending on which way alignment is out. Have you balanced the wheels as well? If the wheel is not balanced, at high speed it can hit the frequency of your suspension and it will wobble worse. But...recommend: wheel balance first and alignment anyway if you haven't done it. |

Hmmm Wheels out of alignment alone dont generally give a wobble. It may steer funny, or pull to one side or other and may also make the tires squeal around corners. Things that do make the wheels wobble can be bearings, out of adjustment or out of round drums, wear in the suspension, uni joints not done up properly or even missing a ball if its a pot joint suspension. Flat or hardened spots on tyres or even a delaminating tyre will also give that. What exactly have you recently done - adjusting the subframes and rack makes me wonder ???? Mike |

Re-did subframe mounts. -Car drove fine for 2 days. Loosened steering rack, and re-tightened it with the pinion angled correctly. -Car steering wheel wobbles at high speed. Anything over 90km/h. I believe the rack is worse now than a few days ago, so it could just be it's getting worse and this is the result. |

It's possibly lost a counter weight from the last time it was balanced. The stick on ones don't last forever. Also have you mounted any gutters or hit a big pot hole(s)? |

I remember them putting weights on when I got the tyres, so I could have lost one over the last few days. I will see if anything is obvious when I get home. Haven't hit anything at all, only driven over some rather rough roads around my unit. |

You are just trying to see if the shake goes away. It costs nothing is simple to do. |
