I've had a question from a Welsh mini friend , a friend of his has an Australian clubman in Wales and wants to replace the door skins but obviously can't find any there . Are they still available new from any of the suppliers here ? If not , is it possible to modify (enlarge door handle opening) an English Mk 1 door skin to suit or was the rear edge of the clubbie door slightly different shape from earlier Australian mini's . I know the latching mechanism is entirely different and B panel is a different shape but is the actual door skin outer shape the same ?

I have just gone through my parts books and can not find listings or part numbers for clubbie door skins. If anyone had them it would most likely be John Smidt.

However depending on how involved you want to be - I have a number of clubbie doors with reasonable skins on them - would have to check them more closely though - that could have the skins removed. I understand that the skins are crimped and brazed into position.

If thats the case its a fairly simple task to grind and file away the brazing.

Buy a MK1 skin and weld in place the handle hole from the existing doors?

Alternatively find some doors over here.

I haven't heard of Ozzie clubman skins in oz - but that doesn't mean that they don't exist.

I purchased one from MiniKing last year, NOS. Not sure if John has any left but he would be your best bet.

John has been selling some on ebay.

But if I was on the other side of the world I would be trying a Mk1 skin and maybe fit a better handle/lock.
