OK, not sure if this is the right place to mention this, but I'm sure the heading got some people's attention.

I received today, from an anonymous reader of our magazine, a copy of an original Driver's Handbook for a Morris 1100/1100S, with a small amount of paperwork - receipts and things, but not from when the car was new.

It is in the original dark blue plastic BMC folder from the original dealer in Gosford.

It came with a note saying "Might be of interest to some collector", but no details as to who it's from.

So, here's the deal. If anyone can show me a good case for them having this in their collection, then I will post it out to you.

It would best suit someone with a 1969 Morris 1100 or 1100S bought from the Gosford dealer. If you have such a beast, and can tell me who that dealer was, then you will be the lucky winner.

If you don't, but you think you've got a good case, then try me out.

The person who convinces me will get the book.

You can PM me if you like, or put your begging, I mean strong arguments, up on here for everyone to have a good chuckle at, and to respond to.

I will set a cut-off one week from today, so you have until Friday 15 January.

And, no, I will not put up any pics of it because it is free and I couldn't be bothered.

Cheers,
Watto.

Thank's for the vote wombat but I say Morris1100 as it is more in his line of collecting/records than mine since it is an 1100S handbook . The folder itself would be nice but I believe it is worth more historically if it is all kept together rather than the folder somewhere other than where the handbook etc is . Who know's , one day someone might be looking for it for their car .

Mike Byron has an 1100S but I have no idea which dealer it originally came from. He got it from Canberra, but I'm not sure if it was originally a canberra car. There is minimal rust, so it may be.

Thanks Kevin

We have the original paper work and handbook. Its a fairly low milage original car. First sold in Canberra to a little old lady who literally drove it to church and to doctors appointment with the occasional shopping trip.

Then sold as a deceaseed estate to a late teenaged girl who inherited the problems of of an older low milage car that probably only saw several hundred kilometres a year. it blew head gasket and no mechanics wanted to fix it for her without quoting big money.

We bought it and it was simply a head gasket change. Now registered as a historic and its longest trip was to hay several years ago. Still only dingseveral hundred kilometres a year.

Thanks though - we have the original paperwork.

Mike

Watto , give it to Stephen Lawrence , you know the guy with the 2 1100S that was in your magazine not so long back , you know it would be going to the best possible home for 1100 s that you could possibly get.

I would like to add it to my collection if there is nobody more worthy.

I have a 66 Morris 1100 that came from somewhere in NSW and a 68 Morris 1100 Auto that came from Melbourne. So the book wouldn't match either of them.

OK, time's up.

Sometimes it is difficult to give away something for free.

Seems not a lot of people are interested in Morris 1100 memorabilia.

However, two suggestions sounded quite reasonable, so I will offer it to Stephen Lawrence, and if he doesn't want it then I will pass it on to Morris1100.

Cheers,
Watto.

I am pretty sure that Stephen will apreciate and look after it very well , thanks, it's not too often that we can do something nice for him , he always seems to be doing that for us.

I would have liked it as well but I already have some memoribilia for the 1100 and the original drivers handbook.

I just felt it should go to another deserving person.

Steve is a good choice and he truely loves his 1100's

Maxi23 - you should do a drive-by and post a photo of what is there now for us.
Please?

I drive past it twice everyday, it is still a car yard and it is part of the central coast motor group.
