I need new silver metal lining stuff that goes all up the side of the car, over the flares etc. The stuff Ive got one now is shocking:
Wheres the best place to get the right stuff? And whats the best stuff?
ps. Whats this 'stuff' called. cheers

not sure about adelaide, but i know in melbourne i go them for $33 per side for regular trim, and a couple of bucks more for cooper trim. pricey i know... TIPS ON INSTALLATION (thats putting them on  )
heat them up! with a hair dryer or something. it makes them more flexible. also, you will need to open them up a little, if you have arches and want the trim to go around them. to open them up, just heat them up a bit (so they dont break as well!) and run a screwdriver down the gap. thats what i did. but, obviously, be gentle! especailly if you pay as much as i did cant remember what they are called though, sorry mate |

$33 per side??? 
I want expecting quite that much... I saw some hell dodgy stuff yesterday in a sprint auto parts place, there was about 4, 1m lengths in a package for $7.50, but as I said, hell dodgy. Cheers for the instilation tips |

there are cheaper versions, but because of the way the mini ones are made you ve to get genuine.. they are U shaped. the place i got them from has a reputation for overcharging though... |

Price sounds about right. I think it's called side trim. My husband has just put some on our deluxe, what a pain. He wreckons to leave it on your driveway in the sun for a few hours, makes it more flexible. He has tried heating it up with a hair dryer but preferred the other way. It's not easy stuff to put on so beware. He went to help a friend put some on the other day and in the end they gave up. |

seriosly - its a piece of original automotive trim people - you want it to be good enough quality to survive on the exterior of your car in rain and direct sun and while cruising at 80 mph - I'd be highly suspicious if it didnt cost "that much". What do you get for less than $100 anyway these days? I know heaps of people on these forums are students (myself included) on limited budgets but you do get what you pay for. |

i must just be stingey...Suppose its not all that bad $33. I know what you mean with the saying "you get what you pay for" after working in a hardware store for 2 years. customers always going for the cheap and nasty paints/power tools, paint brushes(especially) just for some examples then they end up dissapointed. |

I put the 'crome' side strips on my old Mini. Just make sure that the rim you are going to cover with the strip is nice and clean and any rust spots treated. It's hard if you have a rusted ridge and you're trying to cram it into the slot in the side strip. I wish I had thought about heating it up... I'll remember that for my current Mini. |

Anybody know where to get the chrome trim for the gutter ? I can get it landed from the UK for about $25 but wondered if there was a cheap place locally. |
