I had a similar experience in Dandenong yesterday.

I had water pouring in at all four corners of the windscreen, middle top of the windscreen, all along the top of the rear screen, through the quaterlights, past the side windows into the doors..

I did,nt have any water coming in from around the windscreen ( thats a lie - I had a slow drip from the top right of the windscreen ) or any other windows , I was driving through over a foot of water so it was coming in from the bottom the doors , so now the Snail smells like the carpet in an RSL

The rain in Melton ( north west of Melbourne ) yesterday afternoon was incredible , I waited for the initial huge downpour to subside before fighting my way through the morons to get home, the air is that humid there is fog inside the car, I cleaned the windows with my RainX wipes before I left but it did little apart from making the moisture easier to wipe of with my dwindling supply of dry cloths, I,m not even on the Freeway yet and there is water in the car, I get on the Freeway to fight the morons , I,m doing 70kph and aquaplaning neatly in my lane and a Falcadore passes me at 110 and aquaplanes off into the tree's in the middle verge, same goes for the next three , people start to slow down now , 70 to 80kph is the average speed now for most people except the morons, everyone who convinces themselves that rain is evil and to avoid be converted to the dark side you must drive as fast as you can disappears off the road in a spray of mud, I was contemplating pulling over to wait it out but then the car in front drives straight into the back of a small hatchback who had pulled over, the moron was just following the lights not the road ( what road ? ) , my heater suddenly decides it can make warmth so my vision improves slightly, I,m now off the Freeway and heading away from the storm but the morons are still around , there is still a lot of water on the road and my 10inch tyres are a bit fun through the ruts full of water, the rest of the run home is straightforward the rain over Werribee is only a light shower, once home I pulled out the sports seat so I could dry the carpets properly , I had a heater on low and a fan going in the car for 4 hour's its still a bit damp though so I,m doing it again tonight, once it's dry I,ll put more Scotch-Guard on both sides of the hessian underlay. That certainly was a wet drive home, I,m just wishing I had an in car video .

It's usually okay in the wet, but just the sheer volumes of water it couldn't cope! Couldn't get the windows demisted as there is no heater installed currently, had no rags, not even long sleeves! All in the name of fun!

I was in a huge deluge on Friday last week in North Rocks, even with the pathetic Minimatic heater (+ bilge blower) going flat out it did nothing for demisting, just made the driver hot. All I could do was wipe the RH half of the screen repeatedly with my mitt. Note to self-replace missing demisting flap under the dash... But- none of my windows leaked. Thank God for all new rubbers.

I'm over it..I'm luckly I did my lawns on Tuesday night but my mothers has been growing for the last 4 weeks and its bucking down so thier is no way I can cut it tomorrow I also have have 8 or so back plates or brackets that need painting and the only time it hot enough to cover them is when I'm at work

You forget Mr Green , the Snail is fitted with the electronic ignition and coil I got from you , the only brief moment of trouble was when the carby gargled a bit of water , dropped to third, the double valve springs did their thing , cough splutter and back to normal .

The Van has priority before the Snail has an engine swap, at the moment the bog standard ( no rebore and just more air and fuel ) 1100 it still strong , well , its only done 45,000km's since it rolled out of the factory anyway back to the epic downpour , the soil in Melton and Rockbank is volcanic red sandy loam so my radiator, engine bay , K&N filter , wheels , wheel wells, nooks and crannies are red but not my carpet, go figure .

I had the grille off yesterday - wasn't really expecting the downpour.. was driving through puddles which sent water up over the roof, plus that from the vehicles in front.. I was CERTAIN it was going to conk out from water in the dizzy.. the whole front of the engine bay was soaked! Somehow it kept on running!
