Ever had a big failure with your mini? I know I have. Would like to see pics of things that have failed on your mini wether it be engines, cranks, wheels or even interior.

Just for fun, no names or bad mouthing people.

Here are some pics of when one of my engines failed due to the double roller bearing failing in the gearbox and then tearing apart my oil pump!

Unfortunately I don't have pics of it, but years ago my Dad replaced an 1100 engine for a friend of ours. The one that came out looked like that. Big-end bolts went and wrapped the conrod around the crank. One big mess and a sudden stop.

I have had several engines let go myself in a variety of ways, and years ago I mused about building a metal sculpture from all the broken bits I had. Titled "A-series anguish" or something. I figured I had nearly enough broken engine and gearbox bits to do a life sized human figure, in tears presumably or banging head against wall, but it's still on the list of 'to do' and I think I got sick of moving a heavy box of broken bits so chucked them all out.

ahhh for blowing every piston ring due to the lock washer on the gear cluster disintergrating and being ground to dust and floating around the motor. Big rev's around a roundabout and BANG. Goodbye last motor. Hello 3 months of rebuilding a new one.

I have a semi-straight cut crownwheel and pinion that looks like it has been in a bar brawl, it is missing that many teeth! Then there was the time the diff pin ran home to mumma via the bottom of the gearbox......

This made me go Hmmm! Oh Crap!

This made me think previous engine restorer was a cheap skate and I am now understanding why I went Hmm in the 1st place.

And this made me wonder how I was able to select this gear? Never seen all of the grooves on a baulk ring warn away before. :?:

Those are pieces of metal in-beaded in to the pistons

I had one very similar to that , the sports850 had an 1100 in it when I bought it and it ingested a spring washer . the piston eventually seized in the bore and when I pulled it down the ring's were shattered and ring grooves looked like a cross section of a mountain range . I kept the piston for years on my "trophy wall" (where I kept the broken bits  ) but it was lost in a move
