I forgot to say that when you run out of fuel petrol pump can become dry. may need to pour petrol down hose attached to petrol pump so that it becomes moist and pumps petrol up (priming the system). |

I'm Guessing you are running a Mechaninal pump..Prim it...but being mech it sould still pump out if the motor is turning ![]() Unhock the fuel line to the cab and get a freind to turn her over and see if the fuel is comming through and that will negate the pump nad (fuel filter ![]() |

could be that the little rubberised one way valves in the pump are past it. i found once that i had the same problem. got an overhaul kit and replaced the diaphragm and the valve seals and it worked a treat. you can also prime the carb by taking the float bowl cover off and filling that with petrol. when the engine starts the fuel pump ticks over faster and gives more suction so self primes a bit easier than turning over on the starter motor. also make sure that the fuel tank is almost full, as this adds a bit of pressure to the fuel line. If you only just put a couple of litres in, then the pressure created by the fuel is not much and makes self priming by the pump more difficult. michael |

I just read the first post and it has to be an electrical pump if it ticks. Most likely it is a coincidence and the points need adjusting, cleaning or replacing. Check it has power first though. Have you tried to start it regardless? |
