Hey all,

took my mini to Bathurst (and back) yesterday, so thought I'd share.

I wasn't sure if I'd make it, but he pulled through without a hitch (200k's each way). Did some googling and it seems that a Morris Cooper S won bathurst in 1966. Probably not this guy:

Some questions about oil consumption... I was burning about 250ml of oil per 100k's at highway speeds. This is excessive yes? I find I only really burn oil (sometimes see faint traces of smoke in the mirror) above 3000rpms. Does that mean valve seals?

Back in the day, BMC said 400 MILES per PINT (600mL ) was normal for a Morris 1100. 1275 Cooper S motors liked a drink too.
If it's using oil, it's either the guides & seals, or the rings (more likely with your symptoms).
