Post subject:  Engine paint colour?

I am removing my engine for some work over the next week or so and was planning to repaint the complete engine, clutch cover and transmission while i have it out.

What colour choices do i have that are either origonal or popular?

BMC green is common but i dont mind it. It looks as though my engine was once painted in that gold/green cooper s colour.

Does anyone have some pics of their engine colours they may be able to post.

This is painted in alpine green from bunnings. Its a white knight product in their hammer-tone range. Its fairly close to the original cooper s colour.

Nice :D

Yeh that is similar to the colour i think the engine was painted a very long time ago. Under that is a dark green. Both colours make a very ugly peeling flakey old decrepid look

I dont mind that cooper s goldy colour.

Very nice thanks for the pic.

This is a bit greener, it's the same colour Greig Malaure paints many of his engines. Paint is Omeron Coatings enamel- `Mini Metallic Green'

This is Mini Metallic Green bought from Mini Car Clinic. (I think same as what Mini King is selling). Is much lighter than the one above.

*Ahem* Nice choice :)

The Mini King sells it in 500 ml cans as Cooper S green. About 35 dollars gets you enough to spray about 2 engines or more. Lasts well, its been a year and about 5000 k's and its going strong. No primer was used, and so far it doesn't look like it was needed either.

Jester and Kev's photos look pretty close to what I bought (more than) a few years ago. It was mixed from the. BMC formula (back when they still made the correct tints). The can says "Metallic Green Met".

Cheers, Ian
