Post subject: | Stricker lock, plate |
Hi all, Went to shut the driver side door yesterday and the striker lock has moved into what looks like the locked position, permanently (refer to images) http://envyus-htmlemails.com.au/mini/IMG_0329.JPG http://envyus-htmlemails.com.au/mini/IMG_0330.JPG So have removed it from the door as I thought I could take the whole mechanism apart (did not realise it was completely sealed). Does this mean I need to purchase a complete replacement or can it be fixed, if so how do I get it apart. I am assuming it must be a spring inside that has broken? cheers, Dave |

Err...you didn't need to pull it all apart. Put it back together, then hold the handle (either inside or out) open (or have a good looking assistant hold it for you. Then put a screw driver or phillips driver in the latch and push it to the open position, might take a bit of a push. No it's not stuffed. ![]() By gtmowog |

Poke a screwdriver in the hole behind the catch and while you pull the lever push the catch open with the screwdriver. Then lube the lock with oil and see if it works properly. |

Well I have learned two lessons today. 1. How to take the door apart. 2. Don't get inpatient, put a post on the forum and wait for a reply (LOL). Thanks guys, guess what I'm doing this morning? javascript:emoticon('') |

Sometimes having a good looking assistant is like having 2 good assistants off sick. ![]() |
