Im getting disc breaks. but im wondering if its necessary for backing plates? what do they actually quiet do ?

and the cheapest ive found for 10inch ones are on mini sport. anyone know if i can get any cheaper ?? i doubt it though.

The backing plates/stone shields perform very important roles , they trap stones between themselves and the disc and squeal , they crack and rattle , they bend and squeal on the brake disc and in general make a pain of themselves :) Unless you are doing a full accurate restoration i wouldn't bother with them .

backing plates it is!! haha.

does anyone know how much it would cost to make a hardtop and convert it into a convertable ??? my rough guess is round 3000.. :/ haha but i dont know
