For those that have never witnessed one of the true marvels of BMC/Leyland engineering take a look at these photos...

Wow, it seems like they were being cruel when providing these models.

"We could give you the fully developed, tried and tested remote gearchange.....but no. We will get our design engineers to go to special lengths to remind you that you could have shelled out an extra 200 dollars cheapskate."

Post subject:  4 Syncro Wand box.

I had a Leyland Mini 1971 Early Clubby 1100 engine that was factory Wand and 4 sync box. I think they were the poverty pack.

I had a pov pack Mini K sedan (it was like a van but in a sedan shell). The little pin that runs in the top of the ball on the gear stick must have been worn down completely... you could spin the gear stick round and round.

I love driving my van (which has this box) so much that i'll be putting a 1275 on one........................ SERIOUS! Not kidding at all!

I've got all the bits of one of these shifters. It's the only way I can get a 4sync into the Traveller without cutting a hole in the floor. :)

Cheers,

Cheers,

You could graft an 850 3 synchro diff housing on, yes it fits. Just check the bearing bores in the case for size and roundness. Leave the 2 dowels out if necessary.

I've got a motor with one of these boxes under it but the housing for the gear lever is different. It has a complete cast section where the lever enter and a smaler cover underneath. Are these common?

You have got the 850 (3 synchro box) diff housing I mentioned above.
These are the `magic wand', not the 4 synchro `puddin' stirrer' featured in this thread.

Morris, you better change the thread title to Puddin' Stirrer.

Because the lack of torque meant you needed to use them more often.
