Post subject:  Rubber washer & steering rack

Does anyone know if there is supposed to be a rubber washer/seal that goes between the steering rack and the shell? I can't remember there being one but it looks like something's supposed to be there...

Damn hard to find in parts books. Basically, its flat spongey round seal about 1 1/2" in diameter which stops the dirt & water entering. If you can get hold of some soft spongey rubber about 5 mm thick so it compresses when you bolt up the rack, that should do the trick.

P/N 21A30, should cost you all of about $1.50. They are 12mm thick when new and a soft foam rubber, but when they're squashed they don't come back. If you make one from a thong, don't cut the centre hole too small, you don't want that tight at all.

Oh and panties are way better than thongs..................

Last time I replaced one I used an old mouse pad and cut one to fit.
