Does anyone know what wheel nuts Tasman wheels take? Are they the same as either Mamba's? Minilte? or Contessa's?

Same as Dunlops I think.
They are a shouldered nut and a flat washer.

[edit] I just tried a Contessa nut in a borrowed Tasman, it's way too small.

It's actually none of these. I had a heap made last year. I'll measure one and let you know what the sizes are. I'm actually looking for some centre caps that fitt and look nice, not necessily tazmans.

You can buy nuts & washer to suit these wheels from Mini spares at Padstow.

The plain shank is 5/8" diameter and is 3/4" long (on the plain shank), however they also use a plain flat washer 5/8" ID x 7/8" OD x 0.120" thick.

The AF Size is 11/16" (to keep them original) and of course the thread is 3/8 UNF.

Which Tasmans are we talking about..? Mark I, or Mark II..? :? I've got a set of Mk II's (my second set), which I've got to get tidied up and put on my car. It has, in places, undamaged tapers in the face of the wheel, where the washers sat. So, my understanding is that Mk II Tasmans had tapers on the wheel, washers with a taper on one side, and flat nuts. :? I've also got damage on my wheels from where people have used flat nuts/washers, and simply tightened them until they chewed up the alloy on the face of the wheel... :x Given this, my plan has been to (eventually!) get all four wheels faced flat for the nuts. Then I'll be after some nuts and washers... I've got a few here that fit, but they're assorted (i.e. every one is different), a bit tatty, and have corrosion and gold paint on them. :?

As far as I am aware, from new, all Tasmans used a washer;-

(Thanks to my good friend Jan for the pics)

I can only guess that at some stage someone fitted tapered nuts to them. It was in fact quite common for people who bought these wheels second had (and without nuts) to use the standard road wheel nut. I have seen quite a few fitted that way. Of course once the taper is there you need to have the wheel repaired to get rid of it.

It is not a good idea to use tapered nuts on these wheels as they can fail. They did actually gain a bad reputation, for failing (centres breaking out), but this was not on the 10" rims for Minis, only the 12" and bigger as fitted to Escorts.

I have had (and still got) lots and lots of Tasmans MK I's and MK II's over the years (I've got 6 sets of 5 in the shed right now) and they all take washers. I just love 'em, they look particularly good on a Clubbie I recon.
