I purchased new tin can MCs from the UK ( and the $ was not as good as now) $332 including freight of $180 Local suppliers were $660 plus freight.
But then when I came to buy my RC40 exhaust it was the other way round. So moral is check your prices

Saw a thread a while back where someone mentioned buying new master cylinders. Tried searching, no cigar. Can anyone point me in the direction of the thread or tell me the price and where they got them? Need a master clutch cylinder to match 77 clubby |

 mmmmmm...........I've got a list (that is retail) price of just under $200 for the brake m/c and just over $100 for the clutch from a local supplier. If you've a 'loyalty discount' with your favorite local supplier, you'd be looking at about 20% less.

i bought some new ones off a supplier in sydney, and low and behold the rubbers inside needed replacing, so i dont know how long they had been sitting on the shelf for. |

You should always check the rubbers in new brake parts. They are sometimes bad from new. I have also had new wheel cylinders with casting faults. |

years ago we bought a new set of rear cyls,,, still sealed in the plastic & sealed in the box took em out & was about to fit them,,, one of em diddn`t even have a seal fitted to the piston 
true !!!! |

I had seals go on a brand new `Brake Engineering' (Italian made) Cooper S rear wheel cylinder in 12 months. Replaced the pistons and seals with another new pair (quicker than swapping the cylinder). The other side is still fine, 2 years later. Another time, Gafmo fitted a brand new clutch slave cylinder. 6 months later it leaked, so I put a new Oz seal in it. No more probs. I believe lots of the seals that are coming in now are second rate...
