legally in NSW it is:

3x the body wieght naturally aspirated
2.5x the body wieght turbo.

so NA on a 700kg car you can fit a 2.1L
turbo you could go 1.7L turbo.

I thinks the biggest motor you can fit in easily would be about 1400 ish. Get a big block (1275 +) and bore it out (but don't go as big as you can, it might need another bore-ing out in the future!)

OR you could go all out and put a Honda V-TEC in (1.6L, but not mini) this requires alot of modification i think...

imho, half the fun of my mini is hearing feeling and being able to fiddle with my a-series motor, if i was going to put another motor init would be something bigger aka brads conversion..... those copens etc were i think for memory lighter if not the same weight, and i reckon for the time of fixing, engineering, modifiying, youd have better spent your money on working a god ol fashion 1275cc...imho

Ahhhh but what about the lure of a 5-speed transmission with the ability to take as much horse power as you can throw at it?

Considering twin cam twin turbo for the 1100S as its cheaper than proper A series rebuild with 220hp+ instant not waiting for it to wind up like A series it will make the morris 1100S a cheap fast and reliable shopping trolley or distance vehicle for more people in comfort.
