Post subject: | Pic request: remote change gearbox |
Hi! Does anybody have a few pics of a remote gearboxe's shifter linkages? How they connect in & outside the gearbox? I want to change from rod- to remote. But the gearbox I got is fully stripped - and it's my first. ![]() Thanks! Cheers, Jan |

Not sure how useful these are, iphones have terrible cameras it turns out. ![]() ![]() ![]() The last 2 pictures are of the diff housing and it shows the face where the remote extension bolts on. If you need any more external pics the engine wont be in for another week ish. |

![]() Jee, that would be hard to do that cool trick with a rod shift, doesn't have enough linkages to wrong....... It's also hard to strip them spines err...splines on a rod shift............ |

ah,,, but then some un-initiated nong-nongs can easilly have the actualtio shaft arounf the wrong way & the alloy "Eye" inside the shifter won`t let the gearstick work properly & the diff hosing bush can be a pain to change with the exhaust in the way & the roll pins for the couplings wear out & those alloy "eyes" inside the shifter are easy broken & the gearshift seals leak badly (unless they have one of my "Fixzits") ![]() & oh,,,ok,,, i like lightweight flywheels & qucikshifts fitted to rod changes,,, i can`t keep up the fassard any longer BUT!!! & don`t like copper head gaskets tho,,, BK450s are the go ![]() ![]() ![]() so there!!! ![]() & i still owe you a beer or 3 ![]() |

It is not your fault that every gearbox thread ends up with one bloke chiming in with his view regardless of whet the problem is. We could be talking about Muncie gearboxes and he would still pipe up with his "the rod change is so much better" crap. Just like very engine miss thread turns into a copper headgasket is best thread. ![]() |

re the spline position on the male knuckle.. I tried to put it horizontal (ie 1 spline up) and the bolt won't go through. So there. BMC tolerancing. ![]() |

hmmm,,, cause if it`s central on the lock-out leg downstairs (inside the box) & it`s angled upwards at the knuckles,,, then maybe it`s one spline out downstairs? they normally sit middle-middle if you onkw what i mean (& of course you do) just thought that maybe when the pics were taken that it was moved inbetween the different pics,,, OR ,,, it`s out one spline somehwere (top at make knuckle,,, or bottom inside the box) ??? never fear,,, if it works then cool,,, i just hate muckin with those crappy remote knuckles when the donk is in the car ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() they``re the best shifting from 2nd to 3rd tho ey??? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
