Hi Guys, most of you problabily already have seen this :'(
http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=61688

but for those of you who havent, there it is. I am in a bad situation here, needing those skilfilled people of you out there, to help me get back onto the road. After days of searching we have found a mini that my parents have paid for, for the time being, with little to be done to get onto the road. Engine just needs tuning, tweeked, interior dash needs putting in, lights wired up, all wiring is there, and it just needs a clean up, ready for roadworthy. No rust, good engine etc. Due to my health atm I am not allowed to do labour intensive work (already have been in deep poo poo from the doctors when they found out what ive been trying to do) therefore thats where you guys come in. I know alot of you have already offered your help when you can, but just thought if any1 out there who is able to help me out that would really by apprieced. Once I am back on my feet properly I will throw a big house party and u'll all be invited :)

I intend to pick the car up this thursday or friday, and intend to have it registored and roadworthy by the next friday at the latest. Earilier the better, if I can, I am so far behind in my uni work atm, and can't do any of it atm anyway due to the fact of how i am. There really isant that much work to be done to the car. Any help is really really appriecated, even a few hrs if you can do. Saturday morning is out for me due to doctors stuff but anytime from sunday onwards is good. I have pretty much all tools needed, and and double garage to work in at my place in brissy.

Let me know if any1 out there is interested and when?

Lockie, where in Tarrigindi are you and secondly, is that where you have the replacement. I'm in Holland Park so virtually around the corner and have most days free. PM me some details, including a phone number if you have one.

Im in Toohey Road. Yeah your really close to me only 10mins max. The replacement will be going to my place a tarragindi. Its in brisbane atm, but I have to somehow find a cheap tralier to hire to get it there etc. Shouldn't be a problem but yea. I also have to move a car on the gold coast here so gotta get a tralier for half a day or so. If you could help that would really be appreicated mate, it really would, I hate to ask for help, but atm, im really stuck :( thanku

Hi Lockie...... what the hell happened.
I have been traveling for the last week and have not been on the forum.
Geez I drive past where you had the accident a couple of times a day.
It is a bit of a s**t spot.

If there is anything I can do for you on the Gold Coast then I am in.
I am currently in Melbourne returning to the coast Wednesday evening and then leaving for Sydney next Wednesday.
At this point I should be free on the weekend (just need to check with the missus in case the kids have something on).

Let me know if you need anything.

http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=61688

Not 100% sure when I can get a tralier but hoping for the weekend or even earlier if I can, just depends, but I will need some help pushing one of my cars on at the Gold Coast to take to brissy, as I'm not really sposed to put strenious pain on myself atm. So driving is ok. But yea you could give us a hand on the coast pushing the car on if your free. Dont stress if your not, I was just hoping that someone random around the workshops would b free to help for a sec. :( I think you have my mobile , i dont have yours tho, so could you pm or txt it to me, and I can keep you updated. THANKS heaps for you help mate. (Yea its a very poorly designed spot) :'(

Lockie, Just some words of advice. Why don't you just concentrate on getting well and your studies for a while and leave the Minis aside. They are distracting you from getting ahead in what you are studying for. Try and take busses and save the money for when you can do it properly. no good doing half a job and in a rush. Good luck.

I'd have to agree, your type of injury can take a long time to heal (and even then, you may never fully recover). Put ALL your energy into getting better, forget the car...

yeah i kno. I can't take buses where i live, no transport, to and from. To some extent it is possible, but more of a pain in the a than its worth. I'm only allowcating certain times to the car, then having a rest and uni work then. If i find i don't get the car sorted soon, I'll somehow have to just give it a miss like you say. Certainly isant out of the loop yet. In saying that, Johnathon (my mini is my ride) came to give us a hand today, and we got alot sorted. Got all the junk outta the van, sorted most of wat was needed, and got rid of the rest. Cleaned, vacummed, and placed interior mats, cards etc back in. Gave the engine a degress down to see what was what, bolted the seats down, hooked up some wiring needed to start the thing, adjusted the hand brake, set the timing, set the points gap, gave the engine the once over, sorted the firing order (was completely wrong, sum idiot b4 us obviously) got it running ok, then ran outta fuel :( so stoped working on it. But went to work on reddie, plumed a new fuel tank up tempory in the boot, took the damaged exhaust off that was hanging, and just left the manifold, placed battery back in boot, gave the engine the once over, and fired the car up after alot of swearing and god knows wat else, then b4 we could move it, it ran outta fuel as well, lol. But we know it runs ok, after the accident. I just wanted it running so i knew it was ok engine wise, and can move it around without pushing it. So thats sorta where we got to. Thats just an afternoons worth of work. :) Couldn't have done it without Johnathon tho, a BIG THANKYOU goes out to him again, well done mate, onsenstly your a champ!!

Will get pics soon, but tomorrow morning is dedicated to cleaning the mess up we made, tools everywhere, then placing more fuel in both cars, (which my house mate kindly went and got for me :) tonite) to fire up again, and double check weve got them both running. :)

sure have. got him to do it this morning, swap it from each car as i got them going again today. Took me 2 hrs this morning to bleed the fuel through in reddie, had to suck it, and have the tank high in the air at the back. Once i got fuel to the engine bay, the engine kicked into lift and i drove it up and down the drive. Turns out the passengers side top engine mount has been ripped off the firewall, as i noticed the engine at idle was a bit wobbly. But at least i can start the car and move it around now :)

As for the van got more fuel in it, and primed it through. Got it running ok up and down the drive. Definetly need a new tapper cover seal, as its leaking like bugger down the exhaust pipe and causing it to smoke :(. Im hoping to get lights hooked up today susted out, and doors cards on and door handles attached. Then speedo in, check it works, already checked oil gauge it works :) and temp gauge works :) seems to be about the correct temp it should be sitting at idle in the drive :) Once thats done, I would love to get the dash in, but i dought i can do that myself, but well see. The boys here are looking after me, making sure I dont do too much, cos after yesterday i feel so sore, woke up this morning and was like i ran 50km, lol. But yea thats where we are. :)

Good progress or what??

Glad to hear you are getting it all sorted.

Just be aware that if you have a compo case going on, this thread is doing everything possible to work against you.

If you woke up sore from all the work you did, then you are openly admitting to over doing it. Just be careful.

^--- :!: :!: :!:

Listen to that advice, the medical insurers will do everything they can to avoid covering for your treatment. This is what happened to the guy I mentioned before.
