On Wednesday my wife could hear a not so normal knock. On getting it back home its was a inconstant knock at idle and while driving with also a lacking in power. We Dr Mini & I opened it all up this morning and found we have two parts of a crank. Looks like it been crack for a small time and then just let go ![]() ![]() |

I remember reading once in (I think) Wheels Magazine, some juno reconed, being the non-business end - that he could repair such a problem on the road side with some #8 fencing wire and half a cake or pairs soap. He didn't go on to say how though........... |

Amazingly, all the bearings were pretty good, no scoring or anything, no rubbish in the bottom of the box either. We left the head on, the rods and pistons in, all we need now is a good 1098 crank and new bearings to suit. Looks like the crack started in the #1 big end corner fillet, there wasn't much radius there when it got ground... ![]() |
