Post subject:  Bleeding brakes
I want to change the brake fluid and to do this I need to know what wheel to start on, I hope to replace the full fluid in all the lines, so the question is,
:wink: :wink:
1. what wheel do I start on and what wheel follows in some sort of order
2. how many pumps do I need to guarantee to clear the lines

simple answers for a simple person :oops: :oops: :oops: :oops:

hope the question about the sequence of bleeding the brakes isnt too hard, everyone seems a bit quiet, :cry: :cry: :cry:

or there is no problem, :P

just do the rear ones first and the front ones last. :? :?

just want to make sure all the fluid is changed over. :lol: :lol:

Start at the wheel furthest away from the master cylinder. And keep make sure you keep the fluid topped up while you pump the pedal to get rid of the old fluid.
When you see new stuff come through move to the next wheel.
Do this all the way round to get new fluid through all of the wheels.
Then go back to the furthest wheel away and start bleeding.
Theres a lot of different ways to bleed your brakes, the way i do it (after combining advice from a number of people) is to adjust the rear drums right down, then pump the pedal 3 times and hold it down, unscrew the nipple and air will squirt out (quite fast so watch the paint) then tighten the nipple and release the brake pedal, pump 3 times again and repeat until no air squirts out. Then adjust the drum up and move to the next wheel.

For your fronts dont worry about unadjusting them as discs have the fantastic self adjusting feature built into them. Just do the pump 3 times then release method again.

If you stick a bit of hose over the nipple when you undo it you can direct the squirt into a container (with enough brake fluid in the bottom to cover the end of the hose). Its too hard to explain in words why to do this, but it has to do with pressure differences and the like and not sucking more air into the lines.

if it were me,,, i`d just have 4 bits of hose set up onto all 4 nipples & the other end of each hose into little bottles to catch the fluid & then walk around & open all the nipples & then go have a cuppa,,, keep the reservoir topped up with new stuff while this is all """Gravity Bleeding""" & soon you`ll see the new stuff p!$$ out of all the nipples

once this has happened then just lock them all up & Bob`s your Aunty
