Post subject:  Bodywork in Brisbane: Who to use?

Hello all,

This is my first post on the forum - long time lurker, first time poster.

I recently had a bit of a run-in with a dog in my mini ('76 Leyland 998 - clubman 'S' body). Needless to say, the mini came off a little worse for wear (it was a large dog), but luckily the dog was ok.

So, the left front and side have a fair bit of damage - it is still driveable and the motor is ok. Things that need replacing include: left flasher, headlight, grill, and bumper. I think the left side panel is salvagable, and there is warping in the left passenger door.

Who do you guys recommend to get the bodywork done? I just don't have the expertise or equipment to do this myself! I have heard of a guy (Krash i think his name is) out in the Northgate area who does bodywork. I contacted Mini Automotive in Ipswich, but he said he doesn't do bodywork.

So who do you recommend?

I can allso send some photos of the damage if you want a look.

Thanks in advance

James

I would recommened Fine Finish in Southport on the Gold Coast. Not too far from brissy if the car is still driveable, even on a car tralier. They are really good, and do what you ask. Anyone you go to, you must be very specific about what you want, if you want a good job etc. PM me for me details if you wish.

My offsiders (Matty Archer & Stewy) are Panel-beater spray painters,,,top notch too

I (personally) am hopeless at it tho,,, but i do know what they`re supposed to look like,,, if you can understand this part--> i have a damn good eye-ball for the mini shape :-)
so i can pick a problem section better than the best of em when it comes to mini panels & i know what`s supposed to be done to the things "preperation-wise"

but actually doing the panel massage work & applying the paint,,, Nup,,, i`m no good at it,,, i`ll stick to the die grinder & spaners n air-tools thanks :-)

hee hee spray booth here,,, I WIsh

nah, we use GJ`s smash repairs spray booth in Taylor St Bulimba

& Gordo knows how anal Stewy is with his quality of painting

fiji also knows what we do with panel beating

among many many others on this forum

we have a full miini car body Jig & rotisery here (currently in use,,, well it`s always got someones mini on it) , we also have availiable to us ,from Numerous panel beaters in the local area, (all good friends of mine) all the car body alignment - pulling - systems we need, to sort any type of major body stretching/twisting if we need to.

our panel beaters (Matty Blom & Matty Archer) have been in the business for a very very long time & really know what they`re doing,,, old school trained

but like i said, i stick to the spanners,,, but i do organise this type of thing pretty damn well too :-)

Anyone mind if I ask the same question, but for South Australia? It's for my Ford Anglia, but I still think I'd get the best opinions from the people on here.

Thanks.
