Well you have probably heard that Perth had some very violent storms last night. I left work yesterday about 4pm and it was overcast and warm.
So I thought I would make it home before the storm. I was wrong.

About two thirds the way between Jandakot and the city on the Kwinana freeway the traffic stopped and for about 5 minutes I was pelted by very large hail stones it was blowing really hard and it sounded like a hammer beating all over the car. With no where to go I just had to sit and wait.

As we were moving forward slowly as it eased off a bit a nice bloke in a WRX with visible dents on his car told me my left hand side trim and rear flare had come off, so I decided to get off the freeway and check it out and sure enough the flare was missing and the trim was hanging off and I have some sizeable dents on the roof and front of the car. I spent the next 2 hours trying to get home.

I was driving through floods, over branches and some nice fellow ( read mother@#$%$$ SOB) behind me in a ute decide to turn around and clipped my right rear taking off my over rider and tail light lens and making a nice dent without any awarness aparently and drove off in the other direction.

Scooby seriously performed like a trooper and I cannot tell you how impressed I was with him. At one point going past kings park I had to avoid a tree that had blocked all but one lane and drive through a really deep flooded part, water came through the bottom of the passenger door a bit and water was shooting up through the sides of the bonnet! Not a hiccup or anything. Unreliable Minis my arse.

Anyway I'll be taking some pics today At work and I will post them tonight.

Yeah,

Insured through Shannons, I haven't phoned them yet. But I am tossing up whether to get them to fund me doing it myself or give it to a panel shop. To be honest I don't trust panel shops and the wait would be huge right now. I wasn't really in the frame of mind to do another paint job but if I have to I have to.

I will keep you posted.

Well spoke to Shannons,

They want the car taken to their yard by tow truck for assesment, they are not letting owners drive them in due to the caos that would cause. I am a bit nervous about letting them take it away seeing as they could use any Tom, Dick or Harry Tow truck mob to do it.

Anyway after that there will be 3 options:

Economic write off - get payed out and keep the 'wreck'
Get a panel shop to repair for the assesment value.
Give me a check for the assesment value and fix it myself.

I expect a call from an assessor at some stage and then go from there.

Drive it to just outside their yard.......ring 'em and tell 'em where they
can pick it up.

sad news bout scoob,

keep us informed on the shannons service.

i'm sure heaps of us on here are with them, but i rarely meet/speak to someone who's actually claimed through them, and let's face it that's where the proof is in their pudding.

+1 . . . or ask who and where their reccommended repairers are and if they can have an assessor at the panel shop.
