I have a friend who is clearing out under the inlaws house and there is at least 3 x 1275 cooper s engines, extra gear boxes, heads, cranks, discs, twin carbs and heaps of gear all cooper S. Oh and a Cooper S and GT car. I know his father inlaw only collected Cooper S gear. Anyway he will probably want to get rid of this soon so what is now the going rate for this gear?
And before you ask me whats for sale, I don't know, that will be up to my mate.

I think ebay will be your friend.
Might have to list it individually to get what its worth, but itd take time to do.

A list would help and details and condition of the two cars would be essential. I'm sure if he can put these up on Ausmini he'll get a realistic indication of value. It will hopefully help him not sell the cars for under their value by mistake.

I'm interested in a GT by the way.

Hi

This is a very difficult thing to put a price to. As with all things condition comes into it. Take the engines for instance, if the bores were on standard size they would be worth a completely different amount than of they were at 60 thou over.

Obviously cars themselves have a lot of variables, originality, rust, damage, completeness etc etc.

Sending pictures and accurate desciptions through to someone that can be trusted, the local Mini club for instance  could be a good way to go.

By the way, just so that you know, if you ring the "local" Mini club I will answer the phone. :)

Cheers
Steve

Condolences to the family.

As far as options for selling, I would go with eBay. It guarantees market value and the widest audience. Remember there are many more Mini enthusiasts out there then the ones that read this forum. The items would have to be sold individually for the best result.

how can you ask how much something is worth if you dont know what your selling? get a list, get some pictures, then people will be able to tell you what they 'think' its worth.

That wasn't apparent in your first post, so sorry, no disrespect intended.

Hi,

Here is a rough guide in my mind (depending on condition):

'S' Discs $600 - 800
'S' Blocks $600 - 800 more for virgin ones!
'S' Short motors $1000 -1200 worth more in bits I know!!
'S' Gearbox's $400 - 600
Cooper 'S' Cars average $11,000 to $22,000 (less for clunkers)
GT Cars $10,000 to $18,000

My condolences.

Definantly put some pics up, and if your not sure how, take some pics
and e-mail to someone on here who knows how. It would be good if the stuff got sold to someone in the Ausmini community so we could see what happens with the cars and parts.
