Yeah just turn it around on the conrod. It's a wonder the motor didn't rattle, as the gudgeon pins in these pistons are offset to one side. I know Fiats rattle when you get 'em the wrong way round. ![]() |

Are you sure it is only one piston the wrong way around and not three? ![]() Do the front markings on the imp piston point to the front of the engine or the front of the car? ![]() |

My bro is into Imps (me too, a bit). We'd have around 6 motors at the farm, including a couple of GTs. The `front' of the engine is the fan pulley end. It ain't no Renault... ![]() |

Hason,,, once you have all the pistons/rods out of then gine,,, firstly i`d check that all the raod-end caps are matching ,,,then i`d check the orientation of all the rods/pistons to see if the offset in all the rods will work the "right way" round ,,,so maybe you can leave the pistons on the rods & just fit them all correctly when going back together you may see what i`m talking about when you have the pistons out,,, if you have any doubt them bring them over here & i`ll show you i have 2x of these pistons here,,, & 2x of the "non-valve-relief-ed ones in an engine here ![]() ![]() |

Turned the piston around tonight. everything looks fine, was an easy task. all the rods are now the right way around. the conrod bearing shell doesnt look right though. is there supposed to be a gap or is the shell not aligned in the rod correctly? ![]() |

No there shouldn't be any gap. Looks like it just needs a little tap to bring it round so the bearing faces are parallel to the face of the rod. ie: ![]() |
