I have a single HIF44 on my 1310. It works well and is far less complicated to set up.

I imported mine from England along with manifold, mounting brackets and correct throttle cable.

It also needed a kit through it and it uses a different internal choke arrangment and the "O" ring seal hardens and cracks allowing unmetered fuel to seep into the engine.

But since then no problems - runs hard with the original needle in place.

I have HIF44 on both the Midas and the van and like Mike they both run great,plenty of power and great economy, cheaper to buy than twins if you have to buy them but if you have twins already stick with them

I run a HIF44 on my 1275 and find it very good, I just check the dashpot oil occasionally and that's it.

HIF44 too - but switching to 2x1.5"s. The HIF is just too boring, never needs attention.... :lol:

I run a 45 Dellorto on my 1360, but the 1412 is going in the car in a week or two. It's getting an HS6 on an RE7 manifold (had more torque on the dyno than the Dellorto did).

Why not an HIF44?
1. I already have an HS6. They are cheaper.
2. IMO HS6 are easier to tune than HIF and less goes wrong.
3. They use fixed needles that don't wear the jet like swing needles do. :wink:

I have run both on the same engine without any other changes.

The twin 1 1/2's will give very slight improvement over the HIF44 if the engine (1275 we're talking) is in a very high state of tune (~110 Flywheel HP+), otherwise they are about the same in top end performance.

The HIF leaves the twins for dead for most 'normal' driving and low down stuff.

If you want twin 1 1/2 sets I've got a few here (and twin 1 1/4 sets).

HIF44 on a 1152 and RE13 it was also on when it had a 731 cam. It had a Kit and never had to touch it except to tune it 8)

is this a matter of what people think or do people
have solid facts.

Vizard stated something along the lines of
twin 1.5 are good or better than a webber
performance wise

If that was true, all the group N Minis would be running twin 1.5s not a Weber. But the reverse is the case.
The world of Mini tuning has moved on a bit since Vizard (the then #1 expert) wrote his stuff, some of it was 30 years ago.

However, twin or single SUs are a lot less noisy than a Weber/Dellorto on a road car (I've sat behind my 45 Dellorto for the last 15 years) :lol:

My 1275LS has a HS6 on it. It runs well, particularly with the new electronic dizzy and leads and all tuned together..

i agree with all of the above.
I run a HIF44 turbo version as the car is turbocharged.
saying that my opinion is if i want the car to look race period twin 1.5', for a race/race look weber, for a good alrounder HIF44, good for economy and good alround performance.
