Does anyone know what the correct master cylinders were for a MK11 S ? Were they one particular brand or possibly a mixture of Lockheed or PBR.?
Thanks Colin.

I would bet that all the cars came off the line with Lockheed cylinders.
I am fairly sure that the PBRs were just sold as replacement parts.

i`m in agree-ance with Morris1100 on this one,

i`ve been told by some so-called "Experts" that PBRs were the factory fitted one somehwere in the middle of the MK2 range,,, but who can say for sure??? Maybe the factory ran out of cyls at one stage & sourced them locally , I`ll ask my dad (again) & see what he says,,, Probably him & John Shmidt would be the ones who would know for sure (if anyone would)

They were sourced locally. The Lockheeds were made at Belmore, Sydney.

John would know.

G'day people, yeah mine's a 6-70 with Lockheed .7 brake & .7 clutch master cylinders.
I've often seen threads where people have said that the clutch should be a .75 cyl. The reason i ask is that i scored a brand new PBR brake master cyl ( no: 15A1G stamped into the side of it ) complete, and i might use it on my car at some stage if & when mine decides to sh!t itself, even if it's not the right one it will still look the part.
Thanks Colin.

0.7s are a recipe for clutch drag problems.
0.75 moves more fluid, allows you more clutch pedal takeup height adjustment.

my 12/71 Gt has a lockheed and a PBR both are .7. I was told some cars came with 2x .7's but i think one of mine may have been replaced.

GT mowog also told me that the PBR's were replacement ones about a month ago

yeah for some reason most minis came with .7 clutch cyls,,, i hate em & always use .75 diam clutch cyls

i actually took one out of a customers mini today )Emma & Tims little Yellow brick) to fix it,,, well it was .7 diam & had the brake valve :-) altho it was also stuffed & needs a sleave too

typical tho

& yes obviously i`ll be replacing the hose & kitting the slave cyl as well,,,, it`s all about the "Package"

I think what has happened is that "Back in the day" there were soooo many replacment items made here in Aust that quite a lot of people thought that it must have been a factory item from the start,,, now "some" of them may very well have been from the factory,,, this is the part i`m un-sure of,,, either way , i doubt that anyone could say "For-Sure" that any particular cyl "Wasn`t" factory fitted,,,whether it be LookRead or PBR

:-)
