How are 850 door rubbers held in place glue or clips

Neither! They just clamp on themselves!

Just be sure to compress the whole lot around the door frame before you trim off the excess as they do shrink over time and will pull away at the top corners of the door frame.

i've had to take mine off then redo them . now they have a once inch gap hidden under the kick plate because they have shrunk. thats the only solid thing that holds them on

It is really anoying I know! Nearly everyone ends up having to do a re-adjustment as they shrink. So if you compress it as you go, you will end up with a much smaller gap, if not no gap, when they shrink over time. It also important to put some protectant nourisher on them, if your car does not see much rain or washing. :)

Put door rubbers in they don't hold in as good as later style I wonder if glued in would that be better and stop them from shrinking

I've found that if they're glued, when they shrink (as they still will), they just rip the paint off as they go :?

I almost treat them like a "consumable item", replace every so often as required....

I have worked on many mk1 minis over the years in the UK and most have the rubber glued on, but dont forget that they should also have x2 small black PK screws either side of the door catch.

I cannot say I have seen this on an Aussie spec car before? I have four cars with cooper/850 doors and none of them have screws?

If you find you do have to glue them, try using a tube of silicone as it will hold the rubber on, be flexible and not rip the paint if the shrinkage occurs. I have used it on a boot rubber with no problems when the clips started to get weak.

No pk screws were on my old original 1961 850. The rubbers shrunk there like they all did.
The screws must be a Pommy solution.
