I found this image while perusing the Picture Australia Website ( www.pictureaustralia.org )

It shows a stack of trucks and a mini utility stacked on the top. It comes from the Oxley library in Qld, so guess it must have been a local publicity event.

They must at least toyed with the idea of distributing the mini utes over here at some point?

the ute has a pedal car on it too

the tailgate angle is correct for it to be a real ute, so maybe...

But if you go to www.pictureaustralia.org and put in Morris Mini cars in the search you should have plenty to look at as well as the image below....then put in your name...and then your street...and then look at photos of old flower shows from Wishart in 1896 etc etc etc etc...

That photo is a BMC UK publicity photo. It was not taken in Australia.

So who can guess what BMC vehicle is in the back of the Pick-Up? It is a real mass produced BMC vehicle that is worth a lot of money these days.

There was actually a number of Mini Pick-Ups imported in the 60s. I don't know if it was done by BMC Australia or if they were private imports. My father told me of a factory in Sydney had a heap of them towing semi-trailers around the factory. (sort of like the way Scammell Scarabs were used)

Mick - Why did you have to show me this website? Im going to spend all of the long weekend looking through old photos now.

My wife is going to kill me. She is already pissed that I have spent the last 2 hours looking at old photos on a suburb of brissie(bulimba, I grew up there). Learnt heaps of things I didnt already know, and boffed up on things that I already knew.

I will officially be an historian by the end of the weekend.

Good point, DRN + government website = days and days of taxpayers time wasted.

I mean, im much to busy and my workday is much too structured to allow me to waste time trolling through these websites.
