So i did a head gasket today.

And i noticed that the 2&3 pistons sprayed with degreaser were easy to wipe clean. 1&4 however were crunchy black, but not covering all of the piston, more black to the outsides than towards 2&3.

Any ideas as to why.

The water that enters the cyl from the blown head gasket acts as (sort of like) a steam cleaner

so middle cyls clean-ish from the steam cleaner,,,outer 2 cyls typically black & sooted up from normal poor mixture , bad tune & crap fuel

:-)

I think crap fuel is right, stupid OPAL unleaded. And even the 95 here in Alice seems to be crap.

That window also goes in tomorrow Matt, crappy rubbers on the one you gave me, and pain to take the whole door apart to replace it. Probably take half the day just to do that.
