I've got a 1275 in the shed which i think was from a 1275LS engine number 12H169 - outputs are pot joints, what diff ration would you expect to be in this?

The 12" tyres fitted to the 1275LS were only about ΒΌ" taller than the 10" tyres fitted to other Minis.

Both the 1275LS's I owned had 3.44 diff's, 12H could be a late Moke Cali motor too though!

12H can be anything! It is the code after that that says what the motor was fitted to.
The 1275LS had the code 12H902.
The 12H169 was fitted to the Morris 1100S Automatic.

If it's taken out of a sedan it's probably a 3.44. But if it's out of a Moke, most likely it's got a 4.13 or 4.26 in it.

Big wheel Mokes only came with 4.26 and a very small few (of the last Oz) came with 4.33

But, as the doc suggests, it could be anything (especially since it appears to have been put together by someone other than the factory) so you'd be best to take the end cover off and count teeth....

Either of which are useless in a Mini. For road work, anyway.
