My cooper s engine has a damper marked "metal lastik damper" part no 51-139. Can anyone please tell me if this is the correct damper for a cooper s, and also should the damper and pulley assembly be balanced prior to installation.
Should the correct pulley have a part number stamped on it?
thanks.

1. Yes it's the correct damper for an S.
2. It's probably not a bad idea to check the balance on a crank before fitting. However, the replacement MED ones available now do not need rebalancing, according to Graham Russell. These look like this one- http://home.exetel.com.au/zoomini/zoomi ... GP2061.JPG
3. The crank pulley (inside damper) on my S motor looks original, but has no numbers.
