ok so drove moke fine the other day. Drove it this morning and it was fine. Moved it from the garage to the end of the driveway and smelt petrol. Drove it back down to the garage (after nothing worked on the Rover who is now waiting to be taken to hospital - or the wreckers) and the smell of petrol was very overpowering opened the bonnet and there was petrol dripping (lots) on the extractors Dried everything down, left it for 5 mins to cool and came back. Removed the air filter and turned the key to power the fuel pump. Petrol was pouring out of a hole under the inlet in the top of the float bulb. Strangely (after a few beers) i cant understand why all of a sudden petrol is pouring out of this hole. The hole has always been there. Petrol has always been there. Petrol coming out of the hole hasnt happened before,..... OMG i am writing so much. Cut long story short, the float chamber is filling with fuel and coming out of the hole under where the petrol goes in and its going everywhere........... HELP... ![]() one mini.......... JUST ONE MINI IS ALL I WANT ON THE ROAD..!!! ONNNNNE!!!! |

Needle valve/seat in the float cover is sticking or full of crap. Take it off and clean any crud out first. If no fix, replace the needle valve & seat. Check float level. Or, the float has a pinhole and sunk, but this is rare. |

The needle and seat is not closing for some reason. It could be a speck of grit or the float has turned into a sink or just the needle stuck. The easiest trick to try and cure the most likely problem is to whack the top of the float bowl with the handle of a screwdriver. A screwdriver has about the right weight to do the trick without damage. |

Do you run a filter before the carby,? The Doc & Morris 1100 have your problem covered i'd say. |

OK so number 24 is the needle and seat assembly (as per below schematic) but where is this located? Sorry am trying to knowledge myself up on it before i go home and pull it apart... I am presuming that it is in the lid assembly that when the float bulb rises as fuel enters the chamber it then lifts the needle whcih closes off the flow of petrol into th chamber until you suck it into the carbie to use it which causes the bulb to go down and more fuel to enter???? ![]() God i feel like a newbie.... ![]() ![]() |

You are correct, you have won the kewpie doll. ![]() All in the lid. Take the pin out that the float swings on, and the needle, then undo the jet with a 1/4 drive socket. The early floats with the metal strip on top let you adjust the float level by bending it. Later 1 piece nylon floats have no adjustment they are a PITA. Only adjustment is a shim washer under the jet. |
