Post subject:  A helping hand in Brisbane please..
Hi Guys,

Was wondering if there is someone in brisbane or the gold coast that could lend me a hand to replace my seal and gasket on the timing cover in the next week. Since the mechanics have put the engine in the car, its pissing oil out and losing quite a bit from the timing cover. I have all the tools needed, and will get the parts if I know I can get someone to give me a hand. (Will supply beers for your hand to be full whilst here :) )

I will be able to help, but I still stuggle to bend over the engine bay with my back and neck the way it is still after the accident. So was hoping I could find someone to lend a hand.

Anyone out there who can help, that would really be appreicated. Thank you!!!!

umm.. not sure what you are refering to on condition, but i beleive i have 1 breather. its the one closest to the timing cover/ raditor.

you really need bluemax or some similar silicon either side of the timing cover gasket.. they possibly didnt put that in. also you want to make sure the cover isnt bent. the bolts might be tightening up but leaving gaps in between them.

I ended up using some permatex no. 3 on my timing cover. It does not leak from there even 12 - 18 months down the track.

is that the brown sticky stuff? that only works if the cover makes good contact the whole way round, it wont take up gaps very well.

Check & make sure it's not the gearbox=crankcase seal. Hopefully not.
Unusual for the T/C seal to "piss oil" unless it has been damaged when fitted.
Something's not "square" or the cover not centralised properly.

Someone up there give him a hand, guys.
