Post subject: | Damper Question |
Looking to purchase some new dampers and set the ride height properly with adjustable hi lo's. There are two types of dampers, standard height and lowered... I have 12 inch rims, so not sure how much the ride height can be lowered. My question is what type of dampers should I be looking at? There is also reference to adjustable dampers. Am I safe to assume this means adjustable resistance? Thanks for your help Simon |

Adjustable bump & rebound is great for fine tuning, not really necessary on a road car. If you are going to lower your car with hilos, then the shorter dampers would be the go. It's not a nice feeling when your shockies bottom out! |

Ride height is adjustable by hi-los. Dampers only control rebound ("damping"). Std does in 99% of cases - especially with 12"wheels! I got Koni adjustables for my rebuild. |

Thanks for the replies. I think I will look at the standard height, adjustable dampers. Cheers |

Don't be afraid to look at the UK mini websites for shocks, Minispares, mini sport etc, with the exchange rate at the moment they are very affordable, look at the GAZ range, the adjustable type are a very good shock, we have a set in one of our cars & i can't fault them, we got a set in from England 2 years ago for half the price of buying them locally.
