Umm obvious places
- a-panels
- floor pans
- boot floor
- back seat where the the boot joins the bottom of the seat
- Beaver panel
- Sills

These not overly hard to fix (hardest being seat in my opinion)

I looked at an 850 about a year ago and the Front valance panel (below front bumper) had rust in it (these panels witout the cutouts for cooling the brakes as far as im aware are not available anymore)

take a scew-driver with you and give bits and pieces a good poske to know whether the rust is surface or not

But really i dont think there is any rust spot thats not repairable (see micks cooper s he fixed)

Just be WARY!!! of bog or plates - Its surprising what bog can hide or what can be under plates

Dont know if that helps but yeah

Try looking around the vertical seams, these are usually rusty.
And if its got decent paint on it look far parts that look different to the rest of the car. There could be filler underneath.

If they wont let you poke suspicious looking bits then walk away.

check suspension towers from inside the engine bay too. under the carpets if you can and the battery box and spare wheel area

EDIT

also check where the windows slide along in their channels on the doors. and around the release button for them. also follow the lines for the washerbottle to the push button in the dash and check for rust along them.

from what i have seen on mini forums and my own mini. the worst areas are front floor, boot floor, battery box and valance panel. In saying that, the dreaded rust is not fussy.
Good luck on saturday
