Easiest thing in the world is to just rig it up as a dummy radio, and have an amplifier under a seat running your speakers. Your amp can get it's audio input from an ipod or another FM radio/CD player hidden elsewhere in the car.

What do you think? Has anyone done it? I am thinking of getting Nostalgia radio to do it. It will cost about $500 to get it running Fm added and an Aux port added. The only thing I am worry about its only about 15 watts X 2. Not a real lot of power. Suppose I can add a small amp. Has any one done it? and who did it? and is 15 watts enough? I have a set of Pioneer Splits. Cheers Brett |

why not just buy an i-pod radio signal thing. Sorry im not sure what they are called but they are a connection that you put on the bottom of the ipod which transmits a radio signal that you then tune into your radio. |

I got one of these and use it in my work vehicles. It beats listening to clone radio but the quality isn't as good as a direct cable link. I'd go with the ipod connected to the hidden amp idea if I wanted tunes in my 850. |

Forget the FM transmitter on an iPod/etc if you care about audio quality. I have one and it's awful, you get a persistent background hiss in the best case, and clearly audible noise/warbling at worst. It may be different in the sticks where there's no FM radio though

Your right Simon. There's only 4 FM stations around here so no radio interference but you still have the white noise. In the city I found I had to adjust the frequency occasionally. |

If it's 15wrms then it's on par with the best head units. They always quote 50w or whatever but they are only 15wrms (wrms is the true power). |

I reckon you would eventually start to like the horse racing on AM!
I like the amp with the ipod idea, and the new ipod classics have a built in FM!
